Upgrading your hosting plan and calculating the prorated cost

Moving to a higher shared hosting, WordPress hosting or VPS plan does not make you pay the new plan's full price: only the difference for the remaining time is due. Here is how that prorated calculation works.

1. Requesting the plan change

Moving to a higher plan can be requested at any time by writing to the team from the Contact page, with no downtime for your site. State your current plan, the plan you want and your order reference: the team calculates the difference to pay.

2. Understanding the prorated amount

When you move up, you only pay the price difference prorated for the days left before your next due date, not a full year of the new plan. Example given by Smiley Hoster for shared hosting: moving from the Start plan to the Grow plan six months before the due date costs 120 MAD, not the full annual gap between the two plans. Current pricing for the three plans is detailed on the Shared hosting page.

The same principle applies to WordPress hosting (see plans): only the difference for the remaining time is billed.

3. The special case of VPS and dedicated servers

A VPS is resized live, without changing machine: the request goes through support, following the same prorated principle. A dedicated server works differently: moving to a higher configuration means changing machine, to be arranged with the team rather than a simple online adjustment. Compare available configurations on the VPS and Dedicated servers pages.
